A time to reflect

Scrolling through my facebook memories, my 2020 recap showed up.

Well 2020…

You definitely didn’t turn out the way I expected but it’s been one to remember.

Lots more time at home. More time with my boys and trying new hobbies; candle making, bug collecting, sea shell identification, horseback riding, and lots and lots of Legos.

I got to spend less time on the road and more time with my family. We got to see our boys grow and unwind. We even managed to spend some time at the beach and the happiest place on Earth. Alaska didn’t happen but it will.

2020 made me slow down, which I didn’t appreciate at first, but it was much needed.

It was challenging and unpredictable but I will hold onto the memories I made with my family forever. 🥰

Many may not feel the same, but 2020 was one of my favorite years looking back. I truly made so many memories with my family. Precious time spent with the ones who matter most to me. No, it wasn’t the year I planned for, but it was a season God knew I needed.

Fast forward to today and my like looks drastically different.

Ecclesiastes 3 states there is a time and a season for everything under the sun. (Everything)

A time for joy, a time to weep, harvest, love, war, and peace.

In the last five years, I’ve known joy, love, peace, friendship, I’ve danced, laughed, and made countless memories.

In the last five years, I’ve also known sorrow, heartbreak, betrayal, confusion, deep mourning, sadness, anger, hurt, and pain.

But the entire time, one thing has never changed. God.

He knew each of these things before they happened. He is there during the good, the bad, the joyful times, and the darkest times.

Deuteronomy 31:8 reminds us that God goes before us, He is always with us. Matthew 28:20 says He is with us always.

I can reflect on the past and look forward to my future because God is walking beside me.

It’s easy to dwell on what was because we know what’s there. It’s harder to move forward because it’s unknown. But each and every day, I choose to keep my eyes on God and take one step forward.

Happy 2026
